The essentials
September Years is made by NBX Studio, LLC (“we,” “us,” or “our”). We do not operate an app account system or a server that receives your memory archive.
Your names, dates, stories, and photos are stored on your device or in your private iCloud database, depending on your choice. We do not sell personal information, use it for targeted advertising, or track you across apps and websites. The app contains no advertising or third-party analytics SDKs.
This policy covers the September Years app, this website, and information you send us for support or beta testing. Apple services have their own privacy terms, linked below.
Your archive
The app processes information you choose to enter or import, including names and familiar names, birthdays, relationships, dates of passing, memory titles, notes, exact or approximate dates, places and their coordinates, photos, and photo captions. It also saves preferences and record identifiers needed to organize your archive.
This information is used to show your timelines, calculate ages and Shared Points, preserve memories, and create the images and backups you request. September Years does not upload your archive to NBX Studio.
On your device
When you choose This Device Only, the app stores your archive locally and does not sync it through the app’s iCloud database. Device backups managed by Apple or your computer may still include app data, depending on your backup settings.
In your private iCloud database
When you choose iCloud, Apple’s CloudKit service stores and syncs your archive across devices using the same Apple Account. This is a private database, not a public profile or a shared family account. Apple processes and stores this data under its Privacy Policy and applicable iCloud terms.
Photos
You choose the photos or files to import using Apple’s system pickers. Copies become part of your archive. Importing a photo does not give us access to your photo library.
Apple services
Place search
If you use “Find a place,” the app sends your search text to Apple Maps to find matching places. A selected place’s name and coordinates are saved in your archive. September Years does not request your device’s current location or track your movements. Apple may process search and technical information under Apple Maps & Privacy.
Purchases
Apple processes purchases and restores. The app reads verified transaction and entitlement information to unlock purchased features and themes. NBX Studio does not receive your payment-card details. Apple may provide us with sales and financial reports through App Store Connect.
Beta testing and diagnostics
When you test through TestFlight, Apple collects and makes available to us information such as installations, sessions, crashes, device and operating-system details, and feedback you submit. Depending on how you join the beta, we may also receive your name and email address. Screenshots or attachments you send may contain personal information visible in the app.
We use this information to run the beta, investigate problems, and improve September Years. Avoid including private family details in feedback unless they are necessary to explain a problem. See Apple’s TestFlight privacy information for details. You can stop participating in the beta through TestFlight.
Outside TestFlight, Apple may provide app analytics and crash reports according to your Apple device privacy settings. September Years does not include an independent analytics or crash-reporting service.
Support and this website
If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you include in your message, such as your name, device information, or screenshots. We use this information to respond and resolve your request. Our email provider processes these messages on our behalf.
These web pages do not set cookies, use advertising or analytics trackers, or load third-party fonts. Our hosting provider may process ordinary connection and server-log information, such as your IP address, requested page, browser information, and request time, to deliver and protect the website.
We do not use support messages, beta feedback, or website connection information for targeted advertising. Information handled by service providers is used to provide the relevant service. We may disclose information we hold if required by law or as necessary to protect legal rights and the security of our services.
Retention and your choices
Your archive: You control its contents. You can edit or delete memories and remove loved ones in the app. Removing a person does not automatically delete shared memories. When iCloud is selected, changes and deletions sync as Apple’s service becomes available.
Separate copies: Switching between iCloud and This Device Only copies the timeline and leaves the previous copy intact. Turning off iCloud or deleting the app does not by itself erase data already stored in iCloud. Manage stored iCloud data through your Apple Account’s iCloud storage settings. Exported backups and copies in other storage locations must be deleted separately.
Access and portability: Use Settings → Data storage and backups → Export backup to save your archive. We cannot retrieve, correct, or delete a private archive on your behalf because it is not stored on an NBX Studio server.
Information we receive: We retain support correspondence and diagnostic information only as needed to handle requests, investigate issues, maintain the service, and meet legal obligations. Retention within Apple’s services and other service providers is also governed by their policies.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to the use of personal information we hold, or to receive a copy. Contact [email protected] to make a request or withdraw consent where processing relies on it. We may need to verify your request. You may also contact your local data-protection authority.
Children’s privacy
September Years is intended for people preserving their own and their loved ones’ memories; it is not a service directed at children under 13. Adults may choose to keep memories about children in their private archives. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13 through support or this website. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us so we can address it.
Changes and contact
If our practices change, we will update this page and its effective date. Material changes will be communicated as required by applicable law.
